On March 18, the NRA, having approved Kyushu Electric Power’s applications for changes to reactor installations related to examinations of the compatibility of the units with the new regulatory standards, approved the plan for construction work at Unit 1. It began a pre-service inspection of the reactor on March 30.

According to the schedule for major work, fuel assemblies will be loaded into Sendai-1 in June. The reactor will be started in July, after which constant operation will be conducted at rated thermal output. The reactor will then be returned to normal operation in August, if all goes as planned.

As for Sendai-2, its construction plan is expected to be approved in May, to be followed by a pre-service inspection.
