According to an electricity supply-demand projection for this summer formulated by the Advisory Committee for Natural Resources and Energy in April, the capacity reserve margin in the service area of the Kyushu Electric Power Co. was expected to be a negative 1.5% in September without power accommodations from another electric power companies, even taking into account energy conservation efforts and introduction of solar and other renewable energies.
With Sendai-1 NPP back in service, the company on its own is expected to secure a capacity reserve margin of 6.7%. According to a trial calculation, Kyushu Electric Power’s supply capacity for its service area in September has increased from 15.32 GWe (including accommodation power) to 15.86 GWe.
