This was the first time the Ikata mayor had expressed his opinion. The Ehime Prefectural Assembly has already adopted petitions agreeing to the restart. Conditions seem set for Governor Nakamura to make a decision and he is expected to do so as early as next week.
On October 22, Mayor Kazuhiko Yamashita of Ikata Town visited Ehime Governor Tokihiro Nakamura at the latter’s prefectural office. Noting that the matter had been considered by the town assembly and a town committee, the mayor said, “The assembly members entrusted me to make a judgment, and I approve restart of Ikata-3.”
