On December 3, Takahama Town announced that it had agreed to the restarting of the Takahama-3 and -4 Nuclear Power Plants (PWRs, 870MWe each), owned and operated by the Kansai Electric Power Co. (Kansai EP).
The two reactors received in February their stamps of approval from the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA), confirming that they were compatible with the new regulatory standards. Now that the town has agreed, the focus of attention shifts to the judgment of Fukui Prefecture.
Additionally, in regard to the Takahama-3 and -4, the Fukui District Court issued a temporary injunction on April 14 blocking operation, against which Kansai EP appealed, filing its objections on the same day.
