The internship program is related to Hitachi GE’s nuclear construction projects in the UK. During their time in Japan, the students will experience operations with a nuclear-facility design team.

Hitachi GE began accepting such interns during the previous fiscal year, which ended on March 31. Those selected this time are from the University of Bangor, the University of Cambridge, the University of Bristol, Imperial College London and the University of Manchester—each of which with whom Hitachi GE engages in joint research. In addition to their duties as interns, the participants will also visit Japanese nuclear power plants (NPPs) and attend seminars on Japanese culture.

Noting the importance of nuclear cooperation with each of the British universities, Hitachi GE President Hidetoshi Takehara welcomed the students, saying, “We will support all of them, helping them to make their three-month internship as productive as possible.”
