The students will visit various places in Fukushima, measuring radiation levels to verify food safety and provide reassurance. They will also make presentations on what they have learned. In this way, accurate understanding of radiation and Fukushima-produced foods will be promoted, helping to combat unfounded fears and misunderstanding.
Twelve high school students from Fukushima, 14 students from France, Malaysia and Indonesia, and three from the Tokyo Metropolitan Toyama High School are taking part in the event.
On the 15th, the participants attended lectures by experts and specialists on radiation measurement and more at the University of Tokyo, and also had various exchange meetings. From the 16th, they will visit sites around the prefecture to deepen their understanding of measures to ensure the safety of agricultural products, tourism resources and more.
