After the Japanese government presented its outlook for the supply and demand of energy, along with a target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by FY30, the individual companies integrated their disparate targets into a single plan with one target.

The new action plan will promote activities toward the realization of a low-carbon society in terms of both supply and demand, so as to help Japan achieve its desired energy mix, or the relative composition of power sources. That will be done in a way consistent with the so-called “3E+S” approach, which refers to energy security, economic efficiency, environmental protection, and safety.

Having decided upon the above CO2 emission reduction target as part of their efforts to achieve a low-carbon society, the power companies and other companies have designed an action plan that comprises the following actions: (1) utilizing nuclear power, premised on safety, (2) expanding the use of renewable energies, (3) improving the efficiency of thermal power generation, and (4) providing various customer services toward the realization of a low-carbon society.

In addition, they will perform annual reviews and follow-ups on the state of the plan’s implementation.
