Established in 2006, Muroosystems is an up-and-coming company strong in niche solutions, primarily in the area of logistics. It now operates across a broad range of areas, including electronic fund transfers and apparel distribution, with bases in China, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.
On May 29, 2024, Muroosystems signed an acquisition agreement with NUKEM. Following the necessary approval procedures, it obtained authorization from the German government on September 9, thereby completing all processes.
NUKEM, established in 1960, had been globally recognized in such areas as radioactive waste management, the management of nuclear spent fuel, and decommissioning. Having successfully decommissioned the first commercial nuclear power plant in Germany, it is currently engaged in projects to decommission five nuclear reactors.
Riding the momentum of its business in the nuclear energy area, Muroosystems is planning to build a new R&D center in the coastal area of Fukushima Prefecture. It will also promote R&D with an eye toward expanding businesses overseas using Japanese nuclear technology. That should contribute to creation of new industries in the areas affected by the giant earthquake of March 2011.
Muroosystems’ Executive Officer NINOMIYA Nobuaki, referring to NUKEM’s technological capabilities, said, “By combining their advanced technology with our IT capabilities, we will create new synergies and enhance our competitiveness in next-generation energy development. We plan to strengthen our business foundation in Europe and actively expand into the Asian market.”
