ABOUT The 53rd JAIF ANNUAL CONFERENCE

As one of its major activities, the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) stages the “JAIF Annual Conference” each spring,
with the participation of experts, specialists and other nuclear-related people from Japan and around the world.

At the conference, participants make presentations and exchange views on important issues in the use of energy and the development and use of nuclear power.
They share their recognitions and awareness in an effort to identify important issues and resolutions through the conference.
The conference is also a chance for all participants to interact, get to know and better understand each other. At the same time,
it provides an opportunity for the Japanese nuclear industry to speak to the world about its current state and capabilities, while also listening,
learning and re-recognizing the importance of international cooperation.

Under the Paris Agreement, the new international framework for curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,
the achievement of a low-carbon society is envisioned by 2050.
The Japanese government’ s special advisory panel of experts on a long-term strategy under the Paris Agreement advocates a so-called
“energy shift” and realization of a low-carbon society with nuclear energy as an option.

The 53rd annual conference will address from broad viewpoints the desired states of energy and the nuclear business,
and what should be done from now to achieve them.
